The Escalante canyon country is too large to fully explore in a weekend, or even a lifetime. But if you’ve got a few hours to spare, you can sure cover some ground on a mountain bike.
As with many of the recreational opportunities in the Escalante region, mountain biking is relatively new to the area. The trails are primitive and empty, providing you with the adventure you came here for. Don’t let the scarcity of other riders fool you; this is merely an undiscovered land, not an unappreciated one. The varied terrain—from singletrack ascending through alpine forests and flowering meadows to doubletrack “roads” through the desert—will never leave you bored on your two-wheel excursions.
Escalante Outfitters has all the gear you need for your cycling adventure, whether you’ve brought your own bike or are interested in renting one of ours. We stock an extensive line of cycling necessities: tubes & tires, cables and brake pads, tools, hydration gear, helmets, and other safety gear. You can even pick up a pair of Escalante Outfitters’ signature cycling socks.
For those who don’t bring their own bikes, we rent. And our bikes are awesome machines, made in British Columbia by Rocky Mountain Bicycles. These are not your grandma’s beach cruiser. We will outfit you with a quality 2007 Sport Hardtail mountain bike with flat resistant tires, helmet, patch kit, and tire pump (just in case). We will also take the time to custom fit a bike to you, helping ensure a safe and comfortable ride. Our bikes are equipped with high quality Shimano components and come with disc brakes. They are regularly tuned and maintained on-site, and are the perfect vehicle for exploring the Escalante countryside.
Escalante Outfitters welcomes cyclists of all abilities and is committed to the riders who come here. If there is anything we can do to make your ride a better one, let us know.
